Universal Music Group launches EDM-focused label PM:AM Recordings

At a time when electronic dance music continues to pummel its way into the forefront of music consumption and while musical barriers are being demolished by the day, dance savvy executives at Universal Music Group have formed their own internal EDM music alliance.

PM:AM Recordings is formed of a unique set-up combining the A&R talents of Universal bosses from around the world. Each record signed to the label will have been screened through some of the most acutely tuned ears in the business, and in turn each release will receive worldwide synchronicity.

Universal already has significant pedigree in executing dance records such as Avicii’s recent ‘Levels’ and ‘Silhouettes’, and Universal’s PM:AM will focus solely on bringing in the same calibre of records that currently dominate the airwaves of Radio 1 and festivals alike to the ears of millions of consumers.

A firm favourite amongst the underground dance brigade for many months now, Sebastian Ingrosso and protégé Alesso’s colossal ‘Calling (Lose My Mind)’ has been getting some serious love and attention in mainstream circles of late. Daytime playlisted on BBC Radio 1 and the Capital Radio Network – this track has catapulted the up and coming Alesso to household status in a matter of weeks, as he now looks set to replicate the incredibly successful career of his legendary mentor. The official video, featuring captivating Coachella 2012 footage and a surprise special guest appearance from vocalist Ryan Tedder is out now.
