One of the most creative families on earth has released yet another  awesome hybrid of ear slamming, nasty, jumpy electro and familiar Shermanology signature vocal progressive house. ‘The Only Way’ can lift crowds to ultimate heights. Festival main stage banger all the way!

Ever since this talented family, inspired by jazz, funk and soul, formed a solid dance act, they were an extremely popular name at clubs and festivals. Their unique sound in electronic music is like nothing heard on the clubland circuit now, and not ever.

They started as Andy and Dorothy, musically schooled by their Father and Uncle who were soul artists in their own right, The Sherman Brothers. Growing up with an appreciation of the greats, the pair only listened to the finest funk artists – Prince, Luther Vandross, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Bebe & Cece Winans and Earth Wind & Fire. In 2006 they released ‘3 Minutes To Explain’. This enormous club track was alongside the 2 greats, Fedde Le Grand and Funkerman, which validated the duo’s colossal potential. Leon Sherman then entered the frame to create once of the most diverse music families around.

Shermanology’s most recent release, ‘Can’t Stop Me’, a collaboration with superstar Afrojack, was a huge dance hit and made it’s way to almost every dance floor worldwide. As for fresh release ‘The Only Way’, the prognosis says this will be this summer’s next big club banger. ‘The Only Way’ is already supported by the world’s top notch DJ’s such as Steve Aoki, R3hab, Thomas Gold and played in international radio shows by Sander van Doorn, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Nicky Romero, Afrojack and David Guetta.

Amsterdam Arena beleeft première Sensation ‘Into the Wild’

Ruim 40.000 danceliefhebbers uit meer dan 75 landen beleefden zaterdagnacht de wereldpremière van de nieuwe show van Sensation: ‘Into the Wild’. De show die al enkele maanden geleden was uitverkocht, staat helemaal in het teken van de jacht tussen mannen en vrouwen en het dierlijk instinct dat daarbij de overhand neemt.

De Nederlandse première is de kick-off van de internationale tournee, die langs meer dan 20 landen trekt. Traditiegetrouw werd voorafgaand aan de show een veiling georganiseerd met dance4life. De opbrengst van de veiling leverde, samen met onder andere de vaste donatie uit de kaartverkoop, een totaalbedrag van € 323.600,- op.

De Amsterdam Arena was tijdelijk verbouwd tot een futuristische stadsjungle vol special effects, acrobatiek, vuurshows en muziek van internationale grootheden als Fedde Le Grand, Nicky Romero en Mark Knight.

Opmerkelijk waren de twee reusachtige lichtgevende slangen die zich wellustig verstrengeld in elkaar rondom de DJ-booth bevonden. Ook in het oog sprongen de dubbele lasers die als loerende ogen in de nacht over de bezoekers gluurden, op zoek naar een prooi.

Met speciale polsbandjes die via RFID op afstand bestuurd konden worden, werden alle bezoekers letterlijk en figuurlijk onderdeel van diverse lichtshows. Met de polsbandjes die iedere bezoeker droeg, konden alle mogelijke vormen over het gehele veld worden geprojecteerd. “Elk polsbandje geeft een eigen kleur op de juiste plek. We kunnen precies zien waar welk polsbandje zich bevindt in het veld. Door de juiste bandjes op te laten lichten in de juiste kleur, kun je elke vorm weergeven,” aldus Thom Bartelse, marketing manager Sensation.

TIKTAK At The Beach XXL: 7 July 2013

TIKTAK keert terug naar Bloomingdale en komt op zondag 7 July voor het eerst met een XXL editie naar het strand. Voor deze opening hebben we heel wat supersterren weten te strikken. Bassjackers: Deze toonaangevende internationale act draait ver over onze landsgrenzen en op alle grote festivals in ons eigen kikkerlandje.

Wereldberoemd in Nederland : The Partysquad. Hun tracks op de Mad Decent/Hollertronix EP zorgen voor explosies op de dansvloer. Luister ieder willekeurige Diplo en/of Major Lazor set van de afgelopen maanden en je snapt wat er wordt bedoeld met ‘explosies’. De mannen van The PartySquad zijn energiek en combineren elektronische knallers met verschillende stijlen. Naast deze sterren zijn ook The Flexican & Sef aanwezig op het strand, Bumaye! En wat dacht je van Feest Dj Ruud? Deze wandelende mash-up tussen goed en fout maakt zijn naam waar en laat overal een spoor van confetti achter. Ook ‘Money on my mind’ dancefloor killers Dirtcaps zijn erbij, die net zoals opkomende superhelden Sem Vox en Kenneth G uitkijken naar deze XXL editie van TIKTAK.

Verder maken we party met Phalerieau, Rob Black en veel meer! Verdeeld over een in & outdoor stage komt de gezelligheid van alle kanten en zijn de hosts Mr. Simpson & Mr. V.I. uitgenodigd om het plaatje compleet te maken. Iedereen die vorige keren een strandeditie heeft meegemaakt weet wat we bedoelen als we zeggen: TIKTAK gaat slopen!

Mix Of The Day: Zeds Dead – Essential Mix

De ‘Essential Mix’ is tegenwoordig een uitdrukking geworden die voor kwaliteit staat. De wekelijkse show op BBC Radio 1 biedt de grootste namen ruimte om datgene te doen waar ze zo goed in zijn: moddervette mixes maken! Zeds Dead hoort zonder twijfel bij de meest populaire acts van dit moment. Enkele maanden geleden waren ze dan ook te gast bij de BBC. Een waanzinnige mix van zo’n 70 tracks is het resultaat. New release: Markus Schulz – Scream

Back in June 2010 one of the world’s most inventive electronic music minds released the artist album odyssey that was ‘Do You Dream?’ Fan applause, cross-genre DJ support and dance press acclaim greeted one chart-scaling, master-blasting single after another.

From ‘Do You Dream’s day of release though, Markus Schulz had already begun imagining and conceiving the sound designs that would go to make up his next long-playing excursion.

Now, comprising a 19-track packed collection of ear catching, floor quenching, seismic audio, his ‘Dream’ is about to turn into a mighty ‘Scream’!

“When you’re in the studio, deep in production mode on an album, your mind’s eye is forever picturing the reactions tracks, and moments in tracks, are going to generate”, says Markus. So in many respects the title ‘Scream’ is also the album’s mission statement. It’s that response, that surge of feeling and emotion I want to come back up off the floor when one of its tracks goes on. When it happens, you know all the late hours in the studio, putting the pieces in place, have been worth it!”

With a single-minded quality-meets-quantity credo, Markus has made judicious use of known vocal talent and new singer/songwriter blood on the album. These include US-based sensations Jaren and Aruna, as well as Paper Aeroplanes front-woman Sarah Howells. Also front-and-centre are precocious newer talents, with the likes of Seri and new Schulz discovery-cum-protégée, Adina Butar joining ‘Scream’s vocal cast.

Giving the album a strong song-edged bias has resulted in one with productions that span EDM’s spectrum.

For every daytime radio inciting number (‘Until It’s Gone’, ‘Love Rain Down On Me’ and current single ‘Caught’ to tag but a few), there’s also the more underground themes of tracks like ‘Deep In The Night’, ‘Absolution’ and the album’s thrilling title track. During the final weeks of ‘Scream’s production Schulz commented:“one of the side-effects of producing instrumental long-players like my Dakota ‘Thoughts Become Things’ series is that you keenly feel how much you miss working with lyrics and vocals. ‘Scream’ will be my most vocal-oriented album yet and I believe that the singer-song-writing talent I’ve collaborated with, it will also make for my most accomplished”.

‘Scream’ isn’t exclusively about the vocal though. Building the consummate 360° electronic music album requires contrast and that comes firmly into focus with its heart-of-the-dancefloor seeking instrumentals. From the scene-setting beat-free overture of ‘Our Moment’ to the serrated synthery of floor-ammo like ‘Triotronic’, ‘Soul Seeking’ and ‘Loops n Things’ (with Ferry Corsten) it delivers a comprehensive, panoramic, day-or-night-time listening experience.

Through it Schulz has once again demonstrated that the production side of his mind is alive, kicking and quite literally screaming to be turned loose. And on August 31st that’s exactly what will happen.

Planet EDM will never be quite the same again.
